Governor Rauner's Fiscal Year 2017 Budget Address

February 18

Governor Rauner gave his fiscal year 2017 (FY17) budget address at noon today. He began by acknowledging that Illinois is in its 8th month without a fiscal year 2016 (FY16) budget, a fact that he stated was unacceptable. But instead of detailing out his plan for a budget that chooses to invest in children, families and communities, the Governor chose to continue to advocate for his non-budget policy agenda.

We at EverThrive Illinois think this is unacceptable. Hard-working Illinois families need a budget that chooses revenue over cuts to services. They deserve to live in communities equipped with the necessary health and human services not only to meet their basic needs, but to thrive and prosper. We call on the Governor and the General Assembly to work together to pass a responsible budget and the revenue needed to support healthy families and communities.
